Many Thoughts on a Wednesday

I saw a pretty boy who made eye contact so strong that it broke my heart.

And then I wrote:

"whose eyes illuminated,
adrogynous and angelic."

This morning I felt too sick to go to my first class. I hardly slept last night. My head feels heavy and my knees won't stop shaking. Still, I feel guilty for missing a class. I got a coffee before my second class and sat in Dunkin Donuts at a table that had uneven legs.

A woman sat down at the table next to me and opened a book. She wore Those Glasses. The ones that middle school music teachers wear, perched on their end of their nose. Colorful and vaguely patterened with the little beaded chain that hangs around your neck.

And I sat at my table, pulling back the silver foil of Advil Cold & Sinus. I like the taste of coating on Advil, but these taste different than the muilt-purpose I-take-pills-to-feel-okay Advil.

Anyways, the song they were playing changed from "These Days" a la 10,000 Maniacs to "Kokomo." Hastily, she closed her book, took a sip of her iced latte, and shamelessly sang every word to the song. She tapped her foot and looked me right in the eye. "We'll get there fast and thenwe'll take slow. That's where we wanna go."

I'm not sure which was more strange. A well-over-50-year-old woman singing Kokomo or a 18-but-looks-like-15-year-old boy popping down Advil and Vitamin C at a shakey table in a Dunkin Donuts.
